Dennis Harber

Meet Dennis. Dennis has been a familiar face in the MPEX Rental Department for years. A highly skilled fashion and editorial photographer himself, Dennis can guide you on how to use and get the most out of your rental equipment. The beauty of coming to the shop is that everyone that works here is a shooter, and Dennis is one person that can get your lighting to the next level.
So, rookie mistake. In an effort to de-emphasize the texture of the background, I started shooting a wider aperture than I usually would during the end of our shoot. This can be asking for trouble in the studio, and set you up for focus problems. The aperture setting of f/3.5 did not provide enough depth of field to have both eyes in complete focus. I liked the look and gesture that Dennis had at this moment a lot, so I decided to use the shot anyway. It is not too distracting, so hey, it’s about the look anyway. Keep a good eye on your depth of field, y’all… Sometimes you don’t notice focus issues until you get to the computer, when it’s too late.
