The 3rd Annual Midwest Photography Expo is less than two weeks away, and we couldn’t be more excited. With over 20 photography classes, three photo walks, an amazing interactive Opening Night Extravaganza, a Celebrate Columbus Photo Contest and weekend-long Instagram scavenger hunt, and a huge tradeshow packed with 25 vendors and fantastic deals, there is definitely something for every kind of photographer. We’re especially looking forward to this year’s two keynote speakers: Vincent Versace and Adam Jones.
Vincent Versace is an internationally recognized travel and portrait photographer with a passion for natural light photography. His work has been highlighted in the New York Times, Popular Photography, Shutterbug and even as part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of American History.
In his keynote address on Friday, October 4 at 7:00 PM, In this lecture Vincent will discuss the journey that he takes, or rather the journey that takes him, down the path of creating his images. From people, places and things, San Francisco to New York, Burma to India, infrared black and white to full-color visible spectrum, Vincent will discuss his use of P cameras, digital infrared black and white, as well as the lenses and post-processing software he uses, paper, printers and inks, and why he makes the choices he makes. All focused towards one goal: the print. It is not about taking a photograph, but how to be taken by a photograph. This event is sponsored by Epson.
Adam Jones has been a full-time nature and travel photographer for 19 years. His award-winning images have appeared in publications such as National Geographic Books, Time, Life Magazine, and in national advertising campaigns for Canon, Ford, Eddie Bauer, Miller Beer, and Honda. Adam is also a Canon Explorer of Light.
Join Adam on Saturday, October 5 at 6:30 PM as he shares his wide range of experience with landscape, wildlife and macro photography. Adam will discuss all parts of his workflow, including creative visualization, decision making and post-processing. Be sure to come armed with your questions – audience participation is encouraged! Adam will share his stories, adventures and strategies for taking stunning travel images on location in over a dozen exotic destinations, featuring China, Egypt, Croatia, Kenya, France, Czech Republic, Greece, Iceland, India, Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Thailand.
