This summer, we wanted you to get out there and show us your best nature photos with our “Reach for Nature” contest sponsored by Sigma!  The amazing entries showed us the talent of local and national photographers. Our Second Prize was provided by Ilford and The Learning Studio gallery of local photographers photos were printed on Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl inkjet paper.

SigmaWinnerOur grand prize winner was Valerie Fuller, who submitted this beautiful image (below) of an elk in the Tetons.  It just so happens that Valerie is a local photographer, which just reinforced the idea that Columbus has some serious photographic talent!  She stopped by our gallery the other day to see her photo displayed in our Learning Studio Gallery, and to pick up her brand new Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lens!!!

The winning image by Valerie Fuller. There were a lot of great photographs entered in the contest, but this image captured the them, had a clear subject, great depth and solid compostion. Congrats Valerie!

Our second place winner took this adorable photo of a baby mountain gorilla, below, and we couldn’t resist its charming face! Phil Marty is a photographer residing in Florida, and is a long-time photographer. He won an awesome $300 Illford Prize Pack,  containing Ilford Galerie 13×19 in Smooth Gloss, Smooth Pearl, Gold Mono Silk, and Gold Fibre Silk, and a pack of 8.5″x11″ Gold Metallic Gloss for good measure!

This is just a great pose by this little mountain gorilla. Like a classic Hollywood portrait.

The best in show winner was Denny Souers, another local photographer, who will receive a Sigma gift certificate.  He captured this stunning image of two owls and an meal.
