Fire And Ice – Iceland Photography Tour, Soft Lite Studios
Thinking about joining us, in Iceland, this September (September 14th through September 23rd), for our Fire And Ice, Iceland Photography Tour? Then be sure to check out these images, from Vik, Iceland, one of the stops in our multiple day photography workshop tour of Iceland. Our Iceland workshop will include some of the finest landscape photography locations in the country, and ample opportunities to capture landscape, animal and fine art images, day after day.
The village of Vik, Iceland, is the southernmost village in the country, located on Iceland’s main “ring” road, sitting about 180 kilometers (110 miles), of driving distance, southeast of Reykjavík. Even at its small size of roughly 300 inhabitants, it is the largest settlement for some 70 kilometers (43 miles) in any direction and serves as an important center for both the local inhabitants and visitors to the coastal region between Skógar and the West edge of the Mýrdalssandur glacier.
Consistently ranking among the most beautiful in the world, the beach hosts miles of moist, black volcanic sand, offshore stacks of basalt rock, and mesmerizing tidal actions. Our workshop participants will likely hone their long exposure photography skills on the ocean facing scenes, while seabirds, the most notable being the Puffin, will provide ample opportunities for wildlife photography. Whether it be focus stacking, high dynamic range (HDR), or long exposure, our guides are there to help you dial in your exposures and found that composition you are looking for. The occasional monument to lost seamen, provides moments of pause, to reflect upon the turbulent seas and an added touch of drama for those fine art photographs.
Scenery such as this makes for the perfect photography workshop day and helps to challenge everyone’s knowledge of exposure. Photographic images with dark tones, rich pastel colors, and rivulets of flowing water based highlights, can provide post-processing challenges. Our Iceland Photography Tour participants needn’t worry, however, because we carve out plenty of time, during the day, to review both photographic workflow and post-production techniques. Our guides are extremely well versed in the most effective use of Lightroom and Photoshop, and are at the ready, to help you get your images dialed in.
Both Tim Neumann and Lorie McQuirt are eager and ready to help you achieve your imaging goals, while at this photography workshop, of stunning Iceland. We certainly hope you will join us, and explore the rugged stunning beauty, that is Iceland while sharpening your photography skills and making new friends. See you there!
