Once you begin to really think about it, there are literally limitless numbers of perspectives available on shooting a single waterfall. Another image from the Ricketts Glenn Long Exposure Waterfall Workshop.

In taking this image I was thinking about a few things… One, I wanted the rocks in the foreground as entry points into the image. Two, I really wanted to emphasize the layers of the waterfall as it descended. Three, overall exposure was a concern as I wanted to keep details in the shadows as well as have highlights in the water that were not blown out. And lastly, four, exposure length was a variable that needed to be controlled, as I wanted some blur but not so much that the structure of the rocks underneath got lost.
