From “The Power of Light” for the National Geographic, on top of the Empire State Building.
“The qualities that I think get underestimated quite often are durability and tenacity and a willingness to just keep at it. Time spent behind the camera is just phenomenally important.”
I have been shooting for about sixty years and have been through period of what I call photographic depression where you feel like nothing is working right and every thing you try comes out wrong, I think most serious photographers have gone through the same feeling . I have found that using the old quote ” back to the drawing board ” and taking a class or doing research the going back into the field or studio and shoot someone oops I meant some THING helps regain the desire to create so I keep shooting
You are exactly right! I have not been shooting as long as you have, but I have had the same experience! I always tell my students to just keep shooting! The mental aspect of shooting is the most important part!
