The Franklin Park Conservatory has hosted an outstanding Orchids display this year. I have made three trips down there in the last month, to work the Orchids from different angles and points of view. On this last trip I went with the express goal of doing some focus stacking, here is one example from the outing.

I think Orchids are amazing flowers with a depth that’s really hard to capture in a single shot. In this image, I carefully aligned looking down the center of the flower’s body. Once I had the composition where I wanted it, I took a series of 120 images, progressively moving focus further and further into the the depth of the bloom. Post production stacking done by Helicon Focus.
