Wandering off the beaten path, early in the morning, at Highbanks Metro Park, I found this fog backed scene. I liked the subtle interplay between all the whites and the grays and so here it is for your viewing pleasure today.

In getting this image I had two concerns that I had to take into account. First,  I suspected the meter reading would be off by just a little bit, due to the preponderance of whites in the scene. Indeed it was off and in the end I added +1 stop of exposure compensation to get the white values / tonality I was looking for. Secondly, if the life preserver had been centered, which would be the natural tendency, I didn’t think the composition would have been as strong as I would have liked. I elected, as I was following the rule of thirds, to place the post at a 1/3 vertical line in the image.
