Lift Off

Once again, bowing to the gray light of the day, I elected to keep my perspective oriented towards lines, shapes and patterns. I really do need to spend more time shooting in downtown Columbus.

This could have been a potentially chaotic picture with lots of lines and no apparent structure to them. However, lining up the light fixture “shade” and using its center and leading lines, I feel as if the image pulls you in an organized way into the background and leaves you trying to figure out the connection between the layers of lines. This image required very careful centering of the bulb in the light “shade” and an overall attention to making sure that the edges of the frame stay true to the intended composition. If I were to go back and rework this image I might consider the addition of some fill light to further define the foreground of the image.
