Last Wednesday, our friends at Promowest hooked us up with a couple of press passes for Sonnie to capture some shots of legendary blues guitarist B.B. King when he was at the LC Pavilion. Sonnie took the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 USD VC and captured some incredibly crisp shots.

B.B. King is 88 years old and still touring and playing Lucille like he’s half a century younger. His demeanor exuded grace and graciousness for the life he’s led. And best of all, he didn’t require any waivers from the photographers, meaning Sonnie could sell the images he captured at the show if he wanted. At a time when image rights are a consistent source of confusion and murkiness, B.B. King’s approach to his own self-image is refreshing to say the least.

Then there was the other king that night: the Tamron 70-200, king of zoom lenses. Yet again I was impressed by the results Sonnie achieved. The sharpness in the details, even when zoomed in, is incredible, especially at ISO 2000. The image stabilization and the fast focusing speed allowed Sonnie to capture sharp images throughout B,B, King’s set. Take a look at Sonnie’s images below and see for yourself:
