MPEX Newsletter: Photoshop World 2013 Edition

2:00 PM – Camera Calibration: Getting Proper Exposure, Color & Focus from Your DSLR

Datacolor’s Greg Hollman will focus on the use of SpyderCUBE to get proper exposure and grey balance, SpyderCHECKR to get proper color from your DSLR, and the SpyderLENSCAL to ensure you are getting accurate autofocus from your camera.

2:30 PM – Recording Sound for Video

Sound is one of those things that makes or breaks a video. This demo will explain the different types of mics and pick-up patterns. T.J. will also go over the benefits of different sound recording methods and offer tips and tricks for how to get the most out of your sound.

3:00 PM – Green Screen Demo with Photokey

Westcott Top Pro Dave Cross will demonstrate how to use a green screen with constant lighting from Westcott, and PhotoKey Pro software to automatically composite subjects onto new backgrounds. This is an ideal solution for event photography, photo booths and more.

3:30 PM – Shooting Great Headshots Using a Beauty Dish

Headshots are quickly becoming a source of increased income for photographers. Whether you use speedlights or monolights, there’s a new, affordable beauty dish on the market: the LumoPro Multi-Mount Beauty Dish. In this seminar, photographer and Profoto evangelist John D. Williamson will cover the basics of studio lighting and how to leverage your equipment to its fullest potential.

4:30 PM – Quick, Precise Color Balance Using X-Rite Colorchecker Passport

Color calibration and accuracy is often overlooked by most photographers because it appears difficult and time consuming. This X-Rite Colorchecker Passport demo with Addy Award-winning photographer Eric Eggly is dedicated to dissolving your myths about color calibration and showing you how a few well spent minutes can save you hours of work in the long run.

5:00 PM – Constant Light for Stills and Video

Constant light is growing in popularity with the addition of LED lights to previously available fluorescent and tungsten lights. This demo will weigh the pros and cons of constant light versus flash and explain the best uses for constant light in video and still photos. T.J. will also break down the best options for on-camera constant lighting.
