This Week in the World: 2/24 – 3/2

This Week in the World looks at this week’s most interesting stories out of the photo universe.

PocketWizard announced their new PlusX radio. Posited as the “simplest PocketWizard radio ever,” the PlusX features 10 standard channels that are easily selected through an intuitive dial, a range comparable to any other PocketWizard transmitter and receiver, and compatibility with all standard channel PocketWizard transmitters and receivers. Oh, and did we mention it’s only $99? The PlusX is perfect for photographers at any stage in their development. Are you a seasoned pro looking for an inexpensive radio trigger? Or are you a total OCF newbie who’s been too intimidated by all the fancy radio triggers out there to whip out your flash? Either way, the PlusX is a perfect solution for those looking for a high-quality flash radio trigger that won’t break the bank. Pre-order yours today!

First, DKNY used photos by photographer Brandon Stanton (of Humans of New York fame) without Stanton’s permission in a window display in Bangkok. Then, Stanton posted about it on Facebook and asked DKNY to donate $100,000 to the Bed-Stuy YMCA. DKNY responded by donating $25,000 to the YMCA. What do you think about this story? We interviewed hometown hero Matthew Roharik, owner of Roharik Productions.

We taught you how to select the proper tripod for your needs.

We peered into our used case and found some awesome specialty lenses.
